About Us

What is IAAP?

The world's largest association for administrative professionals. IAAP offers professional development, leadership training and networking opportunities for administrative professionals. IAAP is a non-profit, volunteer association.

Why do administrative professionals need an association?

Joining a professional association demonstrates your commitment to your career. Work is most rewarding when we do it with enthusiasm and give it our best. Through IAAP you will gain knowledge, confidence and contacts that will help you advance professionally. IAAP works to build a professional image of administrative professionals in the workplace.

Who can join?

IAAP membership is open to all persons working in secretarial and office administration positions, along with business educators, students, firms and educational institutions. There is no test of sponsorship required. Through IAAP qualified professionals can test for the certification rating, the benchmark of excellence in the administrative profession.

Where do you meet?

Wisconsin Division has 13 chapters across the state of Wisconsin. Chapters generally meet monthly with different formats - dinner and an educational speaker, reception with a guest speaker, guest speaker only. Most chapters have a brief business meeting during the evening as well.

How much does it cost?

  • Membership varies depending which Chapter you are affiliated with.  There are three categories of membership:

    • Professional - An employed secretary, administrative assistant or other qualified office professional, or a holder of the (CPS) Certified Professional Secretary® rating, or an employed teacher of business education.  (Average is $98 per year).

    • Associate - An individual, firm or educational institution that sustains the objectives of IAAP.  (Average is $140 per year).

    • Student - A member who is enrolled full-time as a student of business education.  (Average is $35 per year)

Many members successfully ask their employers to consider IAAP fees as part of their training budget for the year.

What do I get with a membership?

  • Access to a network of proactive administrative professionals for whom professional development is a top priority.

  • Seminars and workshops: monthly chapter meetings and several dedicated seminars and workshops throughout the year.

  • Discounts for you and your entire Company to SkillPath and Padgett Thompson Seminars.

  • Magazines and newsletter:  OfficePro magazine, Wisconsin Division Dialogue and your local Chapter newsletter.

Will I have to volunteer?

Volunteering is not a requirement of membership; however, volunteering is encouraged.  Many members find that taking time to help out at events is a way to increase confidence, create a large network of peers, learn new skills, and feel good about themselves.  There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the membership year.

How do I find out more?

  • Attend a monthly meeting to meet the members and get a better understanding of what it's all about.
